Norway beyond hydro: Building the case for pv & storage

For decades, abundant hydropower has defined Norway's energy system. Today, accelerating industrial electrification, data centre growth, and increasing regional grid constraints are creating new challenges for a market built around surplus generation and flexibility.

At the same time, hydropower expansion opportunities remain limited, public acceptance of new wind developments is uncertain, and regulatory changes are beginning to create new pathways for solar deployment. As Norway's energy landscape evolves, questions around future capacity, flexibility, and investment become increasingly important.

To address this transition, Solarplaza Summit Norway: PV & Storage will bring investors, utilities, developers, and policymakers to Oslo on 24 November.

The summit will explore how utility-scale solar and battery storage can contribute to Norway's future power system, complementing existing hydro assets while supporting growing electricity demand. Discussions will focus on project bankability, grid access, flexibility markets, storage revenues, corporate PPAs, and the lessons Norway can draw from more mature Nordic markets.

Norway’s solar market is young, but momentum is building. For companies looking to capture long-term opportunities and understand where the Norwegian market is heading, this is where the conversation starts.
